Predicting the Future

July 8, 2008

They say we cannot predict the future, but in some situations we can. We look at our parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and know what can and will happen to us in the next 10-20 years.

All of us are well aware of our relatives having heart problems, heart surgery, diabetes, and high blood pressure. We also know these conditions are caused by only 3 things; overwieeght, what we choose to eat and drink and lack of exercise. Therefore, if we are on the same track, we can predict our health future.

There ae also hereditary conditions such as sickle cell trait and rhematoid arthritis that we need to have open honest discussions about.

So what you say, let us all take the Star Wars future predicitions we have and make health and fitness a priority.

As with most words in our English language, you can intertwine them to mean different things in different points of our lives. Therefore, Faith and Fear can and do exist in my same space within the right contents. My fear is not based on fear of failure, fear of accomplishment or fear of man. It comes from the fear of God. You can find this in multiple chapters in the Bible. I like Psalms 111:10 that states: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs the eternal praise." Proverbs 15:16 tells us “Better a little with the fear of the Lord then great wealth with turmoil.”This type of fear serves as a daily reminder for me to be kind to others, watch my thoughts as well as my words, appreciate what I have while I have it and spend some time giving praise and thanks.  I have learned to stop, reflect and ask if my words and works well I know may be pleasing to man, (me, family, boss, coworkers) is it pleasing to the Lord. For end the end I will only be accountable to me for me. In addition, my faith must remain in faith of God.  We have faith in our skills, faith in knowledge, family and our success. I must continue to learn and grow in knowledge and understanding that his plan may not match my plan and my will may not match his will. It challenges my spirit to recognize the difference.  I know I must remain faithful knowing no matter how hard or wrong, or frustrating it gets, he has not left me or abandon me nor does the scripture say it will always be easy.
